A tripeptide Lys–Pro–Val (K-P-V), a tiny peptide sequence derived from the C-terminal fragment of α-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (α-MSH).

• Anti-inflammatory / immunomodulatory activity has been shown mainly in cell and animal models, especially in models of intestinal inflammation.

• A key proposed mechanism in gut inflammation research is cell uptake via PepT1 (a di/tripeptide transporter), with downstream reduction of inflammatory signaling/cytokines in experimental systems.
